A great trip

by maclaton on August 12, 2013

It has been a while since I have written anything here.  I have been busy trying to get a lot of things done in a short time.  Some of them are getting done, some of them are taking much longer than I could want them to.

I just wanted to make a post about the trip I took to Arkansas to see my friend Eleanor.  It was great.

I was treated like family by her, her mom, and her friends.  I especially enjoyed jamming with her friend Rob who along with being a really nice and funny guy, has some really nice guitars.

I also really enjoyed my time hanging out with Eleanor, getting to know her better, and doing some cool stuff together.

One of the highlights was going to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, where I got a chance to see some really cool paintings, especially ones like the original “Rosie the Riveter” by Norman Rockwell, and got my pic took in front of a cool Andy Warhol painting of a Soviet hammer and sickle.

Finally meeting Sebastian the dog was another highlight as well.

It left me sad coming back home and I really want to go back.

Hoping that I do make it back there soon.

-Mac

Rolling Out

July 18, 2013

I really like my roller.  It is a Dodge Durango that I traded from my dad for a Chevy pickup he wanted to use to get my brother’s Chevy truck running.   Although neither one of those trucks are running, it is mine fair and square. I had to fight to keep it through my divorce, which […]

The Great Hobbit Eviction

June 9, 2013

If hobbits and LOTR collectables are your thing, check this out: You can bid on these items here:  The Great Hobbit Eviction Sale I  hate Hobbits anymore.  Not because I dislike their story in the Lord of The Rings trilogy but because I dislike their  story in my life. It’s something that my ex wife […]

Why Hardees on Hwy 5 Aberdeen NC is my favorite fast food place

June 8, 2013

I usually eat fast food once or twice a week.  When I do, It is usually at Hardees on hwy 5 in Aberdeen NC. I take my 84 year old Grand ma there every week when  we do our weekly grocery shopping.  This gets her out and helps her maintain her ability to walk. This […]

My pretentious hat online dating service selfies or How to Properly Rock a Fedora

May 31, 2013

I was given some really effective constructive consideration by my partner yesterday.  I wrote something that came out sounding a little too sappy.  She sent me some links to a nice guys finish last site, the nice guys of okcupid to show me how my writing, though well intentioned, was in danger of coming off […]

If All men are dogs then I am proud to be a good one.

May 31, 2013

I have always heard the term “All men are dogs”  being used when talking about men who have no loyalty, who are selfish, and are only looking for as many partners as possible in the shortest amount of time.   I think this is an insult to Good Dogs everywhere.   Most dogs that I […]

You are not really an Atheist, are you?

May 22, 2013

Well yes, yes I am, and very open about it.  Not only an atheist, but an anti-theist.   The difference being that I believe that all religion  has it wrong. Its a question that gets asked of me quite frequently.  I’m also asked “Are you angry at God?” No, there is no god for me to be […]

A single radio conversation that changed my life for the better

May 21, 2013

Obesity.  There, I said it.  That is a problem I have struggled with since I was 5 years old.  That’s when I started having to sit down in school. I grew up in (and still live in)  rural southeastern United States, and enjoyed traditional southern cooked food that flowed from the kitchens of my two […]

Stepping out of character

May 21, 2013

I did something yesterday that is totally out of character for me.  I let someone know that I admired them as a person and would like to know them better.  This is not something that I have done in a long time, in fact over 20 years. For 16 years of that time I was […]

May 5, 2013

It’s off to the races time with recording several tracks that are more Jazz rooted than anything else I have ever done. It is a throwback to the time that I was in my high school jazz band class where I started out playing sax and then moved on to picking up a Fender Jazz […]

Demo video and Soundcloud player for Thrusters V.1

May 3, 2013

I’m currently working on a series of more Jazz oriented electric guitar playing, particularly Funk and Acid Jazz. I like them because they seem to me a little more structured than lets say freeform or Progressive Jazz music. My first piece in this series I’m calling Thrusters v.1. Here is the video upload I did […]
